NTREGOPTをする前にやるべきこと：CCleaner

せっかくNTREGOPTをやるんだったら、その前にやっておきたいのがCCleaner。

NTREGOPTはこんなソフトウェア。本家サイトから引用。

The program works by recreating each registry hive "from scratch",
thus removing any slack space that may be left from previously
modified or deleted keys.

Note that the program does NOT change the contents of the registry in
any way, nor does it physically defrag the registry files on the drive
(as the PageDefrag program from SysInternals does). The optimization
done by NTREGOPT is simply compacting the registry hives to the
minimum size possible.

つまりは、レジストリをゼロから構築し直して最適化してくれるソフトウェア。ポイントは、レジストリの内容を一切変えないこと、ただ最適化するだけ。だから不具合も起こらない。

でも、逆に言うと不要なレジストリがあったとしても、それは残ったままになっちゃう。で、登場するのがCCleaner。以下、詳細は本家サイトから引用。

要約すると、Windowsを最適化して、動作を早くしたり、HDDの容量を減らしてくれるツール。この中でNTREGOPTの前に使いたいのはレジストリ・クリーナー。

レジストリに含まれる不必要な拡張子、ActiveXコントロール、クラスIDなどなどを分析、削除してくれる。NTREGOPTを使ってもせいぜい数%しか小さくならないけど、これを使うと数十%小さくなる！
